Ceramic tile installation on plasterboard substrate

SolutionCeramic tile installation on plasterboard substrate

System description

Dry partitioning is a construction system made up of rectangular panels with a natural gypsum core bonded to two superficial sheets of cardboard, used in interior distributions. The assembly of these panels is carried out on a structure with galvanised sheet steel profiles, etc…

The possible vibrations and buckling to which this system is subjected condition us when it comes to choosing the right gripping material to guarantee a perfect hold of the ceramic pieces.

The solution is to use high-performance, high-tack adhesives.

PREPARATION OF THE SUBSTRATE

Ensure the stability of the system by checking that the plasterboard panels are perfectly fixed.

Check the substrate, it must be dry and clean (brush the surface of the substrate if necessary).

APPLICATION

SpreadVAT® EXTRA/VAT® PORCELANICO FLEX/ VAT® FLEXIBLE/ PAM® ECOGEL FLEX/ PAM® ECOGEL PORCELon the substrate with a notched trowel and check that the open time of the adhesive has not expired.

Place the pieces by correctly compacting the surface of the pieces.

Leave a minimum joint width of 2 mm and grout after 24 hours with the BORADA® range of joint mortars by Molins.

Recommendations

  • For application of large tiles (over 900 cm²) use double gluing.
  • Dispersion adhesives ensure optimum bonding behaviour in the event of movement or deformation of the panels.
  • In very hot or windy conditions, do not dampen the substrate and apply in small patches as you apply.
