Concrete repair and protection

When to apply a fair-faced concrete repair? Cosmetic repair

What is fair-faced concrete?

The use of fair-faced concrete is becoming increasingly widespread. In fact, we can find it in both indoor and outdoor structures, in flooring, ceilings, walls, stairs and pillars… It is a very widespread resource in today’s construction and the finishes that use it have already become a fully established trend for many architects, designers and interior designers.

Advantages of fair-faced concrete

And there is no doubt that its advantages are innumerable, as well as its decorative applications, its durability, its hardness and the multiple possibilities and versatility offered by its installation. Its texture, its colour and the low maintenance it requires are essential factors in opting for this material.

Moreover, it is an element that provides countless decorative options, also in terms of different colours and textures.

Exposed concrete is in fashion in construction, it is a trend with a long way to go and it is here to stay. That is why Molins helps you to know when to apply a fair-faced concrete repairer successfully.

Cracks, crazing and spalling are some of the common problems that concrete structures can suffer from. To restore the aesthetic appearance of concrete, Molins has multiple solutions: the non-structural or cosmetic repair mortars in our range are the solution you need.

When to apply an exposed concrete repairer?

The use of repair mortars with finishes similar to concrete allows complete repairs to be carried out on the elements to be repaired, obtaining a finish similar to the original concrete, even in the case of structural repairs.

Particularly similar when using formwork repair mortars or pasty mortars with controlled granulometry and fine finish, from the PROPAM REPAR TECHNO family.

In the case of spot patching repairs, it may be more difficult to obtain a finish similar to that of the original concrete, due to the ageing of the unrepaired surface compared to the repaired surface.

In these cases it may be necessary to use special coatings that unify the appearance and protect the concrete such as BETOPAINT or non-structural repair mortars with a cosmetic finish, easy to install such as PROPAM REPAR 5 or PROPAM REPAR TECHNO 20, applied in one coat over the entire surface in order to unify the appearance.

Exposed Concrete Repair: Applications

The Molins technical team will be with you from the start of the project and can advise you on the possible solutions and applications for the repair of fair-faced concrete. Among them, we highlight:

  • Cracks: there are different reasons for their occurrence and they must be repaired in cases where they reduce the strength, stiffness or durability of the structure, or where the functions of the structure may be impaired.
  • Chips: they usually appear for different reasons such as knocks and we have the best products to achieve an effective and very fast repair.
