Color in resin flooring for special facilities is a crucial aspect, as it has a significant impact on both the functionality and perception of the space. These centers may include hospitals, laboratories, schools, gymnasiums, factories, among other places, where the environment must meet specific standards of safety, comfort and aesthetics.
DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK
The execution of the resin flooring carried out with Molins Construction Solutions solutions consisted of the reconditioning of 3,000 m², corresponding to three floors, with a multilayer finish of colored quartz. The project was carried out by the company Tot Paviments S.L.
REASON FOR THE INTERVENTION
The replacement of the porcelain stoneware flooring was carried out to improve the functional and technical performance of the existing floor, since this support had certain limitations in highly demanding environments, such as healthcare centers. In these spaces, a continuous, non-slip, hygienic, easy-to-clean and easy-to-maintain flooring is required. The application of a resin pavement made it possible to overcome these shortcomings, better adapting to operational and safety needs.
CHALLENGES AND LIMITATIONS
Ceramic, especially porcelain stoneware, is a material with an extremely smooth surface, low porosity and low adhesion. This represents a significant challenge to ensure proper anchoring of the primer and, therefore, of the resin screed.
Flexible resin meshing underlayment is a key technical solution to improve the durability and performance of epoxy resin flooring, especially in applications where the substrate may exhibit movement, cracking or dimensional variations.
The design of the floors at Fundació Catalonia plays a crucial role in creating a therapeutic, functional and safe environment. Color, in particular, has a significant impact on the emotional and psychological well-being of patients, in addition to meeting functional and safety objectives.
