11 luxury homes in Bétera with lime mortars

The choice of materials for facade coatings plays a crucial role in the technical and environmental aspects of buildings. Lime-based mortars stand out as an ideal solution thanks to their high breathability, which allows for natural moisture regulation, preventing condensation and improving indoor air quality. Additionally, their natural composition and low environmental impact position them as a sustainable alternative to conventional materials.

Project Description

The project involves the application of 4,000 m² of lime mortar for the construction of 11 luxury homes in Bétera, Valencia province. The troweled finish was achieved using mechanical techniques.

PROPAM® CAL ENFOSCADO is a product under the Susterra seal, a range of products with sustainability attributes. The project was carried out by the construction company Espacios & Proyectos, and the distributor warehouse was Materiales de Construcción Calabuig.

Reason for Intervention

In addition to providing high breathability, preventing condensation problems and material degradation, lime mortars offer flexibility, reducing the risk of cracks and fissures by adapting better to the expansions and contractions of the substrates. Furthermore, the choice of this type of facade coating is linked to the aesthetics of the troweled finish, which provides a smooth and uniform surface, distinguishing itself from the scraped finish.

Challenges and Limitations

The main challenge of the project was to adapt the colour of the product for the facade according to the client’s specific needs, as they rejected the colours available in the catalogue. Once the requirement was communicated to Molins Construction Solutions, a special procedure was initiated to develop and manufacture the customised colour required.
