What is lime mortar?

Lime mortar, widely used in the construction and renovation sector, has an interesting history that goes back to Ancient Egypt and has endured in our history for centuries.

But do we know what it consists of and what are its current uses? Mortars containing lime in their dosage (either air or hydraulic lime, or mixed lime-cement mortars) are particularly suitable for use in rehabilitation due to various factors.

Thus, on the one hand, it reduces the stiffness of the material, which makes it particularly compatible with traditional masonry. Although its mechanical strength is lower than that of cement mortars, this is hardly ever necessary, given its deformability and its usually large thicknesses.

Properties of Revat Cal Nature

REVAT® CAL NATURE is an ultra-fine stucco based on lime, selected aggregates, synthetic resins and additives, which provides a natural-looking, smooth mineral finish with very high deformability and flexibility in the PROPAM® AISTERM NATURE exterior insulation system.

Three high-performance finishes

Ready or ultra-fine finish:

It is achieved by the use of a stiff sponge or polyethylene trowel to remove ridges, loosen the surface aggregate and obtain a very fine finish.

Trowelled finish:

It consists of using a plastic or stucco trowel, which allows a practically smooth finish to be obtained;

Venetian stucco type ironed finish:

It is obtained after successive passes over the REVAT® CAL NATURE mortar with a stucco trowel, until irregular waters are created.
