We present our 10-million-euro investment project for La Puebla de Híjar
Through our business, Precast Solutions, we are investing 10 million euros in the renovation of our plant, the largest precast concrete facility in southern Europe, with the goal of achieving environmental improvements and energy savings.
The presentation event was attended by Mar Vaquero, Second Vice President and Minister of the Presidency, Economy, and Justice of the Government of Aragón, among other local authorities.
We have presented our investment project for our facilities in La Puebla de Híjar (Teruel), established as the largest precast concrete factory in southern Europe. The event was attended by Mar Vaquero, Second Vice President and Minister of the Presidency, Economy, and Justice of the Government of Aragón. With an investment of 10 million euros, we have modernized the infrastructure, highlighting the improvement of work areas to enhance occupational risk prevention at the facilities.
The presentation of the modernization project, which includes 445 of the company’s 2,300 employees in Spain, was attended by Higini Alfageme, Executive Vice President of Precast Business, along with the top representatives of public administrations and organizations such as the Government of Aragón, the City Councils of La Puebla de Híjar and Alcañiz, the Provincial Council and Chamber of Commerce of Teruel, and the Bajo Martín Region; as well as business associations such as CEOE, ADEA, and IAF.
During the event, Higini Alfageme, Executive Vice President of Precast Business, emphasized the company’s strong commitment to efficiency and environmental responsibility. Alfageme stated that “the 10-million-euro investment in our facilities in La Puebla de Híjar strengthens our position as leaders in complex, safe, and sustainable construction solutions, and allows us to reaffirm our commitment to the industrialization of construction.“
Together with a company delegation, the Second Vice President of the Government of Aragón and Minister of the Presidency, Economy, and Justice, Mar Vaquero, took a guided tour of the La Puebla de Híjar plant. During the visit, she highlighted Molins’ commitment to workplace safety and remarked that this investment is “one of the most important developments for Bajo Aragón in recent months.” She also noted several key points: “from rural areas, it is possible to develop an activity and become leaders, to be pioneers in carrying out a task, and to grow to very high levels.“
We are modernizing our facilities in La Puebla de Híjar
This investment will allow our Precast Solutions business to achieve significant energy savings and environmental improvements, aligning with its strategy for responsible and sustainable growth. Thanks to the renovation of the building, which covers an area of 700,000 m², we have made significant improvements in working conditions related to occupational risk prevention (ORP), allocating 40% of the total investment to this area. Among the most relevant changes is the automation of production lines, transitioning from manual to hydraulic and automatic systems, thereby optimizing safety and working conditions.
The redesign of the factory layout and new installations will reduce internal truck movements by 120 trips per day, eliminating the risk of accidents associated with these movements. This change in plant layout and internal logistics will also contribute to sustainability by reducing fossil fuel consumption.
Additionally, we have adapted the mold geometries in the plant, enabling more efficient and standardized production of components, reducing material usage, and promoting sustainability. This advancement aims to standardize and unify processes across all plants, creating significant synergies by facilitating uniform design, calculation, and production throughout the organization.
The improvements made to the building and its surroundings are aligned with our sustainability strategy. This strategy includes ambitious goals, such as reducing CO2 emissions in cement production by 20% by 2030 compared to 2020 levels, and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, among others.
