We join Barcelona, World Capital of Architecture 2026 as a sponsor

Barcelona has officially begun its year as World Capital of Architecture 2026, a global designation granted by the International Union of Architects (UIA), with the support of UNESCO, recognizing the city’s architectural legacy while highlighting its role as a forward-thinking hub for urban innovation.

At Molins, we are proud to support this initiative as a sponsor. We share its goal of bringing architecture closer to people and fostering dialogue among communities, professionals, and public institutions on how to design cities that are more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient. This aligns with our commitment to transforming the built environment through innovative construction solutions, lower-impact materials, and more sustainable industrial processes.

The capital year launched with the unveiling of the “Pla de Barcelona 2026–2035” model, a large-scale interactive 3D representation of the metropolitan area designed to help people better understand the city’s urban structure and envision its future development. From February 12 through December 13, a citywide program of exhibitions, tours, public talks, workshops, and educational initiatives will take place across all ten districts of Barcelona and throughout Catalonia, Spain.

Beyond the celebration, the World Capital of Architecture 2026 offers an opportunity to reflect on the role of architecture and construction in shaping livable cities, where technical innovation, urban planning, and heritage preservation come together to address today’s and tomorrow’s sustainability and quality-of-life challenges.
