We contributed to the University of Barcelona’s Geological Garden with the donation of Devonian limestone
We continue to support initiatives that bring industry, knowledge, and the environment closer together. In this context, we collaborated with the University of Barcelona on the development of the new Geological Garden, an innovative open-air educational space inaugurated on April 22 in the University Area of Barcelona.
Our contribution consisted of donating several blocks of Devonian limestone, extracted from the Sanson quarry (Sant Feliu de Llobregat, Barcelona). These materials have been incorporated into the garden’s exhibition path, helping to bring the geological timeline to life and offering visitors a tangible way to understand the Earth’s evolution over millions of years.

Located in front of the Faculty of Earth Sciences, the Geological Garden was conceived as an open-air museum that makes geology more accessible to the public while strengthening the connection between the university and its urban environment. The project transforms public space into an extension of the classroom, encouraging knowledge sharing and providing an accessible educational and cultural experience. It is also the city’s first open-air museum, developed as part of the university’s anniversary celebrations and supported by European funding.
The inauguration was attended by the university’s rector, Joan Guàrdia; the councilor for the Les Corts district, David Escudé; and the dean of the Faculty of Earth Sciences, Albert Soler, among other authorities. Molins was represented by our Head of Mining and Natural Resources, José María Ramos.
Through this collaboration, we reaffirm our commitment to education, the sharing of knowledge, and the responsible use of natural resources, contributing to initiatives that create a positive impact on society and the environment.
