Susterra: The Reflection of our Integrated Business Model

Sustainability is, and must increasingly be, the cornerstone of any industrial sector, and construction is no exception. In this context, we launched the Susterra range this year, reflecting its integrated business model focused on circularity, decarbonization, and social well-being. This range of solutions with sustainable attributes is not only designed to meet the most demanding standards in the industry but also addresses the need to integrate solutions that transform the way we build and live.

Our approach goes beyond sustainability; our business model is designed to generate value at every stage of a construction project, from design to manufacturing, including distribution and product use. The solutions that make up Susterra embody our commitment to reducing emissions, efficiently using natural resources, and creating a healthier environment for both workers and communities.

The Susterra range includes everything from cements and concretes with CO₂ reductions exceeding 20% compared to the reference product CEM I 52.5 R from 2020 produced at Molins, to mortars and pavements that incorporate over 2.5% recycled raw materials. Additionally, Susterra integrates materials and fuels of 100% recycled origin, such as rubber granules and steel aggregates. This innovative approach enables architects, builders, and developers to make tangible contributions to the sustainability of their projects.

One of the first major projects to implement Susterra has been the new Spotify Camp Nou, where 160,000 m³ of Susterra concrete with recycled aggregates will be supplied, contributing to the project’s decarbonization. This project serves as a key example of how innovation in materials allows large-scale infrastructure to minimize its environmental impact.

Susterra is also making an impact in the urban furniture sector. The Eco-Grey range by Escofet transforms public spaces into more environmentally friendly environments thanks to its composition, which includes up to 33% recycled aggregates. Eco-Grey offers more sustainable urban furniture with a natural stone finish, without compromising quality standards. This collection stands out for being both more economical and sustainable, as it uses locally sourced recycled aggregates in a shorter production process, free of acids, and with reduced water consumption.

“Our goal with Susterra is to enable our clients and partners to achieve measurable sustainability results in every project without sacrificing performance or quality,” says Carlos Martínez, Chief Strategy & Sustainability Officer at Molins. “Susterra helps ensure that every link in our value chain minimizes its environmental impact.”
