Sustainable Fitch affirms Molins’ entity rating at ‘3’
Sustainable Fitch has affirmed Molins Entity Rating at ‘3’ and increased its entity score to 56 from 51. This reflects its well-defined sustainability strategy and good governance profile, balanced against the cement industry’s inherent environmental challenges, including high energy use and GHG emissions.
With nearly one century of experience, Molins is a global leader in sustainable and innovative building solutions, where sustainability is the hallmark of their integrated business model that includes cement, concrete, aggregates, construction solutions, precast solutions, urban landscape, and circular economy, operating in 13 countries in Europe, The Americas and Asia.
Cement, the cornerstone of construction and infrastructure development, makes up 59% of Molins’ sales. Yet, the company is setting a new standard for sustainability with an improving and below-average clinker-to-cement ratio—an essential step in minimizing its environmental footprint. This forward-thinking approach underscores Molins’ commitment to driving industry progress while prioritizing environmental responsibility.
Its sustainability plan to 2030 covers safety and health, climate and energy, environment and nature, the circular economy, and corporate social responsibility, with targets including reducing Scopes 1 and 2 emissions by 20% from 2020 and reaching a netemissions factor below 500kgCO2e per tonne of cementitious material. Molins’s environmental profile positively reflects its comprehensive policies, EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive-aligned reporting and the absence of evidence of environmental incidents linked to the company.
