Molins reaches more than 193,000 tons of recovered waste at its Alternative Raw Materials (ARM) plant and strengthens its commitment to the circular economy
The company has recovered 25% more tons of waste in 2024 compared to the previous year.
The Alternative Raw Materials (ARM) plant, operational since 2022 and located in Barcelona, is one of the highest-capacity treatment plants among Molins’ circular economy facilities.
Molins celebrates the third anniversary of its Alternative Raw Materials (ARM) plant in 2025, highlighting its key role in waste recovery and promoting the circular economy. By the end of 2024, the plant reached the significant milestone of recovering more than 193,000 tons of construction, demolition, and other industrial waste since its inauguration. In 2024 alone, it processed over 93,500 tons of materials, representing a 25% increase compared to the previous year.
The Alternative Raw Materials (ARM) plant, located in Pallejà (Barcelona) and operational since late 2022, is one of the two highest-capacity facilities among Molins’ circular economy plants, along with the mobile plant located at the former Spotify Camp Nou. With this growth, Molins’ ARM plant has established itself as a benchmark in sustainable management and the company’s decarbonization goals. This circular economy facility not only gives construction waste a second life but also prevents the extraction of natural resources by reusing materials that meet all necessary technical and quality specifications.
“The Alternative Raw Materials plant is yet another example of how we have integrated circularity into our products and processes. Circular economy is a key pillar of our sustainability strategy. We will continue to drive waste recovery to minimize our environmental impact and contribute to global climate change goals,” said Carlos Martínez, Chief Strategy & Sustainability Officer of Molins.
Molins’ Alternative Raw Materials (ARM) plant, covering an area of 3,250 square meters and authorized to process 95,000 tons annually, was inaugurated in 2022 following an investment of nearly two million euros. At the facility, waste in coarse, granular, powder, and sludge formats is processed through crushing, screening, dosing, and homogenization treatments. These processes enable the production of CE-marked recycled aggregates, as well as new alternative materials for cement production. The dosing of these materials at Molins’ cement plant has already prevented the direct emission of more than 3,600 tons of CO₂ in 2024, in addition to significantly reducing costs and transport-related emissions due to the close proximity of the two facilities.
Molins’ Commitment to Circularity Molins has made material recovery one of the core pillars of its strategy, integrating the circular economy as one of its six business areas, alongside cement, concrete and aggregates, construction solutions, prefabricated solutions, and urban landscaping. The company recovers waste both materially and energetically, giving it a second life by reintegrating it as alternative fuels or raw materials in production processes.
Molins’ commitment to a circular business model not only helps reduce the use of natural resources and minimize environmental impact but also promotes a more efficient and sustainable economy. In addition to the Alternative Raw Materials (ARM) plant, Molins operates seven other circular economy facilities across Spain, recovering steel aggregates, construction and demolition waste, and end-of-life tires, among other materials. Just in 2024, Molins recovered more than 345,000 tons of waste, marking a 52% increase compared to the previous year.
