Note of press

Cementos Molins increases net profit by 38% and reaches 52 million euros in the first quarter.

The company reported increased results in most businesses and regions in an increasingly complex and uncertain global environment.

Cementos Molins today announced its results for the first quarter of 2024. The quarter has been characterized by a certain slowdown in the markets, aggravated by some seasonal effects, although this evolution is uneven in the different geographical areas.

In this context, in the first three months of the year, Cementos Molins’ net profit amounted to 52 million euros, 38% higher than in the same period of the previous year. This increase is the result of the reduction of financial expenses and the increase in operating income.

During the first quarter, Cementos Molins’ sales amounted to 336 million euros, slightly lower than those of the first quarter of the previous year, with increases in most of the businesses and regions, offsetting a large part of the decrease in activity in Argentina as a result of the country’s economic situation.

EBITDA reached 90 million euros, a 5% increase over the previous year, with the contribution of the businesses in Europe, Mexico and North Africa being particularly noteworthy. This improvement in operating income was mainly due to the net contribution of prices over costs and efficiency plans. On the other hand, lower volume and the exchange rate had an unfavorable impact, especially due to the strong devaluation of the Argentine peso in the fourth quarter of the previous year. The EBITDA margin increased by 1.7 percentage points to 26.9%.

Net financial debt continued to decline during the first quarter, reaching a net cash balance of 46 million euros. This solid financial position is a major lever for the development of new growth opportunities and for executing the investments envisaged in the 2030 sustainability roadmap.

“In the first quarter 2024 we achieved very solid operating results, in line with the 2024-26 strategic plan, and made good progress in the execution of our ‘net zero’ roadmap towards decarbonization.”

explains Julio Rodriguez, CEO of Cementos Molins.

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the entire team of professionals at Cementos Molins for their effort, commitment and excellent results.”
