Escofet and Foster + Partners Industrial Design, winners of the Architizer A+Product Award for the Gather & Tiers collection

  • The international recognition celebrates the power of design to create inclusive, enduring public spaces with an aesthetic that enhances quality of life.

The Gather & Tiers urban furniture collection, developed by Escofet—our urban landscape business—in collaboration with London-based Foster + Partners Industrial Design, has been awarded the prestigious Architizer A+Product Award in the Outdoor Furniture category.

The recognition, granted by a jury of over 100 leading international design and architecture experts, honors solutions that transform the urban experience through excellence in design, materials, and impact on people’s lives.

“We see public space as a key setting for coexistence, well-being, and sustainability. This award not only recognizes the design and technology behind Gather & Tiers, but also reflects a vision of the city as a more human, livable, and people-centered space,” says Daniel Milà, Managing Director of Escofet.

Launched in May 2024, Gather and Tiers are the first collections of urban furniture designed by Foster + Partners Industrial Design to be fully manufactured and marketed in UHPC-Slimconcrete—an innovative high-performance concrete developed by Escofet. This material enables the creation of refined, formally sophisticated pieces with superior structural strength, lightness, and low environmental impact thanks to its fully recyclable composition.

Each collection follows a modular and versatile approach: Gather is built around a central sculptural profile branching out into concave, convex, and linear seating modules, allowing multiple configurations that organically adapt to the flow of public spaces and encourage social interaction. Tiers, on the other hand, include benches, stools, and tables at varying heights, with a minimalist design that blends subtly into the urban environment, offering functional solutions for contemporary pedestrian settings.

Cutting-edge technology with an urban purpose

The use of UHPC-Slimconcrete offers not only structural and aesthetic advantages, but also reflects a strong commitment to material efficiency, longevity—with an expected lifespan of over 30 years—and climate resilience. Its low porosity makes it ideal for areas with harsh weather conditions, while its lightness enables more sustainable transport and installation.

Both collections aim not only to provide high-quality formal solutions, but also to foster more welcoming, dynamic, and accessible urban environments. Their smooth shapes and fluid geometry contribute to a more inclusive and human-centered cityscape, where urban furniture transcends its functional role to become a tool for social transformation.

With this new international recognition, Escofet strengthens its role as an innovator in the design of public space, projecting its expertise on a global scale while remaining rooted in its local context and committed to sustainable urban development.
