Molins participates in RePavimenta, one of the winning solutions of Barcelona’s innovation challenge

Molins participates in the RePavimenta project, one of the winning solutions of the innovation challenge “The 21st Century Street Section”, promoted by the Barcelona City Council and Fundació BIT Hàbitat.

The project, developed together with Romero Polo and Leitat, proposes a new model of sustainable urban pavement based on low-carbon materials and circular economy criteria, aligned with Barcelona’s climate objectives for 2030.

A new model of sustainable urban pavement

RePavimenta proposes the transformation of sidewalks and roadways through the use of low-carbon materials, recycled aggregates and reused components.

It also incorporates warm-mix asphalt, steel slag aggregates and low-emission mortars.

This approach integrates circular economy principles throughout the entire life cycle of the pavement.
That is, from design to the reuse of materials.

Real-world validation for future implementation

The project has started its development phase with the aim of testing its performance under real conditions of use.

This process will allow the evaluation of both its technical performance and its environmental impact, facilitating its future implementation in urban road networks and its potential replication in other cities.

Collaboration to drive urban innovation

RePavimenta highlights the importance of collaboration between industry, construction companies and technology centers in developing sustainable urban pavement solutions.

With this project, Molins reinforces its commitment to innovation, sustainability and the circular economy, contributing to the development of more efficient urban infrastructures aligned with climate challenges.

This project reinforces the role of sustainable urban pavement in Barcelona as a key element in advancing towards more resilient cities. In addition, it highlights the importance of innovation and public-private collaboration in developing construction solutions with a lower environmental impact.

These types of solutions strengthen the development of sustainable urban pavement in Barcelona.
