Important update on the Structural Code
November 10, 2024 will mark three years since the entry into force of the Structural Code, approved by Royal Decree 470/2021. This regulation has been fundamental for the regulation of construction works in our country.
Adaptation to the New Regulation
The Structural Code included a single transitory provision that granted one year to building works and three years to civil engineering works to adapt to the new regulation. With the end of this transitional period, all works starting from November 10 will have to comply with this regulation, leaving behind the previous EHE-08.
Key points of the Structural Code
We would like to highlight some important aspects of the Structural Code:
- Fluid Consistencies: It is mandatory to use fluid consistencies for certain elements such as columns, beams and slabs. Soft consistency concretes can only be supplied for those elements for which there is technical justification from the Project Management.
- Deep Foundations: Deep foundations (screens and piles) are not contemplated in the Structural Code, but they are contemplated in other standards.
