We celebrate the Day of Trees, Aggregates and Biodiversity by bringing the natural environment closer to new generations
On April 9, we celebrated the Day of Trees, Aggregates and Biodiversity. For this occasion, we organized an educational day at our quarry in Llinars del Vallès (Barcelona). We welcomed students from Damià Mateu school.
During the morning, students took part in several environmental awareness activities. The goal was to help them better understand the natural environment and respect biodiversity. First, we held a guided tour of the quarry. There, they learned about the extraction process and the environmental restoration measures.
In addition, we organized practical workshops on plants and trees. Students learned how to plant and care for different species. They were also able to take some plants home.
Next, we carried out a collective tree planting activity. We also inaugurated a new amphibian pond and an insect hotel. These spaces are designed to promote local biodiversity.
The day also included a talk by ornithologist Joan Gragera. He explained the bird species present in the quarry. In particular, he highlighted the blue rock thrush.
This Day of Trees in Llinars del Vallès helps bring industrial activity closer to the local community. It also highlights our commitment to sustainability.
Finally, initiatives like this raise environmental awareness among younger generations. They promote knowledge of the natural environment and encourage responsible behavior. As a result, the Llinars del Vallès quarry becomes a place where industry and sustainability coexist in balance.
