Celebrating the Day of Trees, Aggregates and Biodiversity with educational visits to our quarries
On the occasion of the Day of Trees, Aggregates and Biodiversity, held on April 10, we opened the doors of our Llinars del Vallès and La Fou quarries to raise awareness among young students about the importance of sustainable resource management, biodiversity, and the restoration of ecosystems.
Llinars del Vallès
At the Llinars del Vallès quarry, we welcomed 3rd-year primary students from Damià Mateu School. During the visit, the children learned about the social uses of aggregates and concrete, the value of biodiversity, and the environmental restoration processes carried out at the site.
To conclude the activity, each student planted their own tree in a pot, which they took home to care for, and also participated in a collective reforestation effort on site.
La Fou
At La Fou quarry, we hosted 5th-year primary students from Jacint Verdaguer School (Pallejà) and Campderrós School (Vallirana). The day included a hands-on environmental session, a guided tour of the facilities, and an introduction to the extraction and restoration processes.
Each student also planted a tree marked with their name, contributing directly to the regeneration of the natural surroundings.
These activities provide a valuable opportunity to introduce younger generations to the role of the aggregates sector in society, while also promoting environmental education, respect for biodiversity, and a strong commitment to ecosystem restoration.
