Celebrating 20 years of one of Barcelona’s most iconic towers

Twenty years ago, we played a key role in the construction of Torre Glòries, one of Barcelona’s most emblematic buildings. We supplied over 20,000 m³ of structural concrete, adjusting the formulations for each delivery to ensure the fluid consistency required for pumping and to meet the project’s demanding technical specifications.

The tower’s unique geometry —formed by two non-concentric cylinders— and its facade filled with openings made concrete placement especially challenging. We overcame this with our technical expertise and production capacity, as well as through close coordination with the on-site teams, ensuring an efficient and high-quality supply throughout every stage of the project.

Designed by Jean Nouvel in collaboration with b720 Arquitectos and inaugurated in 2005, Torre Glòries, with its 144 meters of height and 30 open-plan floors without interior columns, transformed Barcelona’s skyline and has since become an international benchmark of contemporary architecture.

In 2025, the building celebrates its 20th anniversary and this week hosts the Annual Convention of the World Federation of Great Towers, bringing together in Barcelona representatives of such iconic landmarks as the Eiffel Tower and the Empire State Building.

It is the perfect occasion to remember that we are part of this story and that, through teamwork, we have left our mark on a project that remains a global reference in engineering and architecture.
